Mini Lawn

Last year, I started trying to grow grass in a small planter in my apartment. It didn't go so well, primarily because my apartment didn't really ever get direct sunlight.

But this year, I've got more access to sunlight, so we're gonna have another go at it. Read on for updates on how my li'l lawn's doing.

Latest Update: 5 May 2022

More brown than green at this point--hopefully I'll be able to salvage some of this, or we'll be doing a second re-seeding this year.

A side note: I hadn't updated this since mid-February, so there was some catching up to do (and you can see those updates below). It seems like leaving my job would allow me more time to tend to this grass, but as you'll see in those updates, it didn't.

A few "mows" did happen in between this and the last update, but we're finding ourselves back with some stringiness, so it was time for a shorter cut.

Look at that verdancy! So lush, so green, so assisted by direct sunlight.

I can't remember exactly when, but at some point around this time, I tried to see if the grass was strong enough to support a golf ball. It wasn't, but I'll be keeping that as a standard for how well it's growing in the future.

Decent progress--looking neater than a week or so ago--but I still should pay more attention to things like watering the grass and cutting the grass (pretty much the two main parts of growing a lawn).

Alright, let's get this started. Cut the grass that was there before (but still salvageable), then added new seed to the areas that weren't covered before.
